Graphic Designer (Contract, ~15-20 hrs/month)
We're looking for a designer who understands marketing strategy and can make independent editorial decisions. Some UX design experience is a plus.
What we need:
Someone who gets why design choices matter for conversion and clarity, not just someone who can make things look nice.
You understand:
How to create visual clarity in pricing (original vs. sale price hierarchy)
When and how CTAs need to adapt for different audiences (existing customers vs. new buyers)
How visual attribution works in quote graphics
The difference between designing for clarity and designing for aesthetics
If these feel like basic judgment calls rather than special instructions, you're probably right for this role.
The work:
Sales page graphics and pricing cards
Static ad design, podcast and YouTube thumbnails (we care about clarity over clickbait)
Article images for our member portal
Marketing graphics that communicate clearly to mid-career visual artists
You'll work within established brand guidelines (we'll provide colors, fonts, examples) but we need you to bring marketing judgment to the execution.
What matters to us:
You understand how people make purchasing decisions
You can anticipate confusion before we see it
You work independently once you understand the strategic goal
English fluency - you need to parse marketing nuance and make judgment calls about messaging
Practical details:
$50-60/hour depending on experience
15-20 hours/month to start
Remote/async with opportunity to work in person in our shared coworking space in Queens, NYC - preference given to candidates in NYC or EST timezone
Brand colors: Lime green #C1FF33, Orange #FFA617, Pink #EC098D, Purple #990DCE, off-whites #F5F4F2 and #EBE8E1
Fonts: HK Nova or IBM Plex Sans
To apply:
Send a CV and cover letter to paddy@vvrkshop.art with the title Graphic Designer. Include a work sample that shows us a before/after where you solved a marketing or UX problem through design. We want to see your thinking, not just execution.
We're a membership organization for mid-career visual artists - 800+ members getting real career support, not inspirational platitudes. Our tone is direct and helpful.
